The Leisure Village FireWise Community is a group of Village volunteers who are committed to protecting our community from the increasing risk of wildfires. We are not members of the Board nor are we employed by Leisure Village. We have no enforcement authority.

Our focus is on educating and encouraging our residents to protect themselves and their homes from wildfire damage.

Since many homes in the Village are in the high and very high fire risk zones, we want to ensure that all residents have the information they need to help protect their homes. By working together, we greatly reduce the risk to all homes in Leisure Village.

By working with Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council, we hope to get recognition as a FireWise community which will give us access to additional resources. By acting well in advance of a fire, we can greatly reduce our risk of damage and loss from wildfire. The more homes that are prepared, the safer the whole community is.

There are lots of ways to participate:

• sign up to receive email updates and information (see below);

• attend a presentation with regional professionals;

• join us as a volunteer to help spread the word; and

• start making changes that will keep us all safer from wildfires.
